Historical Buildings

Fiocruz protects and preserves an architectural ensemble of buildings that constitute a valuable cultural heritage in the history of the institution and its fields of activities. The Fiocruz campuses in Rio de Janeiro showcase a wealth of landscaping and urban resources and are home to outstanding examples of architecture from different periods.

Master Adorcino

Master Adorcino
Master Adorcino Master Adorcino began working as a stucco mason when he was 19. He devoted the last 25 years of his life to Fiocruz, where he helped restore historical buildings and also assisted with courses at the Manguinhos Workshop School. Tea House
Tea House The 2011 restoration project added an internal metal structure to support the weight of the roof on the wooden trellis. The addition was carefully designed to blend with the building. The roof was also refurbished and equipped with a lining to protect against dust. New lighting was installed and the cement floor was refurbished. Photo: Acervo COC
